Big Time Injury!

Last night I saw something for the first time. It was quite possibly the funniest most hurtful thing I have ever seen in my entire life. Every Friday night there is a home game for the Humboldt Vikings I go to the game and stand on the other side of the field with the chain gang. It is the closest seat in the house and I don't have to deal with bleacher butt (so far I haven't been asked what I am doing on the sidelines!!) I even told the sideline ref last night what I was doing. He laughed!!!
Well it went down like this some time during the first quarter. Humboldt made a long run and it ended in a big face mask which got the flags a flying. Well unfortunately for one young man, who did not make the offense, on the cheating team was running down the field innocently trying to make a tackle. Unfortunately for him, he was on the receiving end of one of the many flags that were thrown in the area of the goods. I couldn't believe what I had seen, and don't think many people had seen it, not even the coaches.
To his credit after he laid around and kicked a little he got up and played the remainder of the defensive series which ended up giving a touchdown to the Vikings. Because I was on their sidelines I later asked the kid if the ref apologized and if he got a chance to say anything about it to the ref. He didn't due to not wanting to get another flag from the same ref, don't blame him on that one. But I instructed him that after the game he should tell that ref to stand in his front yard and practice toss with his flags.
I hope that ref reads this blog, he not only threw for a student he over threw his flags and bean bags all night long. It was a sight to see.

Attic Fun!

For some reason this is a good thing to have in your attic, have you ever spent a day in an attic filled with pink fur bunnies up to your calves all day? Well, let me tell you it ain't no fun (in the words of rack'em rackbar). I only once fell, but not through.
It is a scary thing standing in the middle of my house 12 feet above the ground knowing that at any moment I could (like all other times in my life) be struck with the virus of clumsiness and fall right through. And it happened right at the end of the day. I was standing in the door way over wood and lost my balance and fell. I don't know what it will be like when I am old and get vertigo or dementia (I guess if I get the later, I wont remember I fell when I am falling).
None the less, I ran all the necessary wires to have a nice organized media center with a plasma screen hanging over the mantle. It is awesome. I cant wait to watch Tech play on Saturday on ABC!!!

Happy Birthday

This weekend was my birthday! I celebrate my birthday during the whole month of September, unlike most people my age who mourn, I celebrate. My usual routine is to go to Babe's Chicken Dinner with the family, but since I live 92,000 miles away from that wonderful eatery I didn't partake. I thought about mailing me some. I find it interesting that you can, using the Internet, order you some dinner, and have it shipped to your house...forget delivery I want some Texas BBQ on Saturday. As long as I order by Monday that can happen. I wonder if it comes in the mail heated or in one of those lean cuisine pouches.
Well anyway, back on point, I had to celebrate different from the past (change, change, change)! My momz (as I like to refer to her) came up for a visit, and we instead of celebrating in good old normal fashion, introduced me into the celebration of a married person. Instead of waking to confetti, clangs and gongs, and praises I woke up to being called Manuel Labor. We worked in the yard the whole weekend like I had been married for 10 years.
Don't get me wrong, my yard looks good, but come on, I am new to this. At least take me out for 25c ice cream at McDonald's. We all know they need the money these days, they cant even take out a loan to build a new McD's! But no it was sweat and more sweat. Why can't I go back to 1983?

Yes, these days, that is me! With any amount of free-time I want to play video games. I have always been an avid gamer, and know that it can have a hold on me. It has gotten so much better from the times of a controller with two buttons. Now they have three motions and about 8 buttons. It is some kind of fun! This week I have been able to reconnect with my family through Xbox Live. It is nice to be so far away, yet be able to reduce my little brother to rubbles in a video game, and hear him cry about it. Yes, even as I bear down on 29, I still enjoy demolishing my little brother or any other formidable foe who stands between me and the high score of a video game.
For those of you who worry about the addiction of video games, have no fear, it has no hold on me as of yet. In my family we have a name for what that addiction can do to you; the term is Taton! When Taton becomes you, it is all over, you are no longer effective in life. Well maybe that is a little harsh considering that is the nickname of my cousin, but oh well I must go, it is lunch time, and instead of lunch, BEEP BEEP!!!

Well I am learning there are things that you loose when you get married and things that you gain. The things that I have lost are far and few between, but I have given up one thing that I regret, Qtips! I love those little sticks with cotton on the end. I have an addiction to those little tools.About two months ago I agreed that they were bad for you, and that I would try not to use them. Well, just like a sober drunk in a liquor store, I drooled over them in the Qtip isle, but I refrained. Until last night when I was laying in bed thinking about how my ears itched and I couldn't scratch them.
This morning the battle was on to take back my lost addiction. I woke up and went to my local store, parked the car, marched in there, and bought me the biggest bucket of Qtips I could find.
I have entered back in to the world of Qtips, and I love it!

Kick-Off Sunday

This past week has been an exciting week in my life. Everything in football and in the student ministry of FBC Humboldt kicked off! We had great numbers in the student ministry, and Texas Tech and the Dallas Cowboys came out in victory! You should see me when both those teams loose. It is a sad week around my house when that happens!
I don't have much to write about this morning. Although, I can tell you about this awful occurrence that happen to me. I am the lucky one that bad things happen too. I went to the Double Tree hotel, in Jackson, Sunday after church to eat brunch. Susan and I went with some friends and had a great time in our stretchy pants. It is true that sometimes grown ups wear stretchy pants just for fun, its to walk away feeling good about the money they spent at the buffet.
I was standing in line to pay the bill when someone pointed out I was still wearing the chair on my shirt. Yes they had, for some reason, just finished the wooden chair I sat in, and failing to remove it from the seatery, I was the lucky fool to sit in the wet finished chair. I looked like a guy who decide to add a little flair to his outfit, a chair! To think I walked out of that place with no discount, no promise of we will buy you another shirt, no they just took my money and laughed!
So next time you go anywhere and sit use your hands to test the dryness of the seat. You could be the next fool who walks around the rest of the day wearing a chair. Oh, and ask to speak to the manager, not the little check out girl who giggles!
